Who would want to buy old photos?
Who would have thought that a love for old photos could one day turn into a thriving boutique business??
Well, for the past 21 years I’ve had the priveledge of living that dream, and have only scratched the surface of an ever growing collectible trend.
Bored to tears working shift work, punching in and punching out with the masses, I wanted to break free, before my mind became numb, thinking that 9 to 5, or 7 to 7 was ‘normal’ and expected. I wanted to choose my own hours, enjoy life for a while, work a little play a little, not work my fingers to the bone, wait eagerly for my retirement at 65, only to die a back ridden arthritic on a cruise I wish I took 30 years before!
I enjoyed people, I liked hearing their stories and adventures, to share in what they had accumualted over their travels in life. It was easy to listen because so many people wanted to talk. Along with their memories came photos, postcards, slides and letters, a plethora of visual imagery that for a moment transported me to the places they had been. The photos were magical, like a true link to the past, and a small Antique business took off.
We now have over 20 local stores we stock images for. We provide art and displays for Hotels, Cafe's and Offices.
You know when you're talking with someone who is trying to remember an event long ago. Their eyes squint and they look upward with a tilt of the head like they can almost see the vision. Imagine putting a photo of that exact moment in front of them. Those once Faded Memories come flooding back into focus, and a knowing smile broadens across their face.
That's a feeling worth sharing.

SOURCING IMAGES.
The images you will see on this site, I have sourced from all over Australia. Most original photos have come from little ol' Adelaide, while others have come from working Holidays, and now with every home having a Computer, the latest garden of plenty is of course, the Internet. If you have any old photos or postcards (mainly scenery of Australia) that you or your Family have no connection to, please feel free to email me. I'm pretty confident we will find someone looking for that exact memory. Who knows, it may pay for your next Holiday! |
